FCVB Mother-Daughter Football Event Celebrates Women’s Rights & Club Spirit

Villefranche-sur-Saône, France – The Football Club Villefranche Beaujolais (FCVB) recently hosted a heartwarming mother-daughter football evening at the Stade Saint-Exupéry on March 5, 2026, just days before International Women’s Rights Day on March 8th. The event, designed to celebrate women in football and foster a sense of community, drew nearly 120 participants of all ages.

The evening wasn’t simply about playing football; it was about connection. Players from across the FCVB’s youth system – from the youngest U6F category all the way up to the Senior Women’s team – took to the pitch alongside their mothers and other female supporters. The event underscored the growing importance of women’s football and the club’s commitment to its development.

An Inclusive Event for All

Recognizing the desire to open the event to a wider audience, the FCVB implemented a pre-registration system. For those not officially registered with the club, a waiver was required to participate, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for everyone involved. This proactive approach allowed for smooth organization and maximized participation.

The event organizers creatively formed 10 teams, each representing a different country, comprised of 11 to 12 players. This international flavor added a unique dimension to the friendly competition. Before the matches began, all participants gathered at the center circle for a five-minute collective warm-up, setting a dynamic and festive tone for the evening.

Honoring Women Who Shaped the Club

Adding a touch of symbolism, the FCVB dedicated five playing fields to influential women associated with the club, including the creator of the women’s football program. The fields were named in honor of Terrier, Putey, Meunier, Abada, and Raty. This gesture served as a powerful acknowledgement of the individuals who have been instrumental in building and nurturing the club’s female football presence.

A Festive Mini-Tournament

The core of the evening was a convivial mini-tournament. The format consisted of five matches, each lasting seven minutes. Five fixed teams competed alongside five rotating teams, ensuring that all participants had ample opportunity to play and enjoy the game. This structure fostered a relaxed, festive, and family-friendly atmosphere.

The event wasn’t just about the competition on the field. It was about creating a shared experience, a moment for mothers and daughters to bond over their shared love of football. The atmosphere was described as “relaxed, festive and familial,” highlighting the success of the event in achieving its goals.

A Moment of Camaraderie to Conclude the Evening

Following the tournament, the evening concluded with a “verre de l’amitié” – a toast – allowing participants and their families to mingle and extend the sense of community. The club extended its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event’s success, specifically thanking Hervé for managing the refreshments and the female coaches for their support throughout the evening.

The FCVB also acknowledged the generosity of the men’s teams for making their pitch available, and offered special praise to Metissa for organizing the initiative. The club’s appreciation extended to all those who helped make the evening a success.

This mother-daughter evening perfectly encapsulates the dynamism of the FCVB’s women’s football program and the club’s core values of sharing, camaraderie, and a passion for the beautiful game. The event served as a powerful reminder of the growing role of women in football and the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for female athletes and fans alike.

The FCVB continues to prioritize the development of its women’s program, and events like this are crucial in building a strong foundation for future success. The club’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement is a testament to its dedication to growing the game for all.

Looking ahead, the FCVB’s women’s teams will resume regular league play next week, with the Senior Women’s team facing a challenging away match against a regional rival. Fans can find the full schedule and updates on the club’s official website and social media channels.
