MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Atlanta Falcons player James Pearce Jr. Is facing multiple felony charges following an incident involving Los Angeles Sparks WNBA player Rickea Jackson, according to court documents filed Thursday. The charges stem from an alleged altercation that occurred on February 7th.
Pearce, 22, has been charged with three felony counts: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding police, and resisting an officer with violence. A fourth charge of aggravated stalking was initially a felony but has since been reduced to a misdemeanor.
A charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer was dismissed.
According to the allegations, Pearce followed Jackson’s vehicle and repeatedly collided with it while she was attempting to reach the Doral, Florida, police station. This incident prompted the initial police response and subsequent charges.
Following a confrontation with a police officer, Pearce allegedly fled in his vehicle, leading to a police pursuit that ended when he crashed at an intersection. He then reportedly fled on foot before being apprehended by officers and allegedly resisting arrest.

She further alleged that Pearce had been verbally and physically abusive on multiple occasions and had threatened her life and physical well-being, even referencing a threat to place a bag over her head, according to court filings. The court granted her initial request for protection, and a hearing to establish a permanent restraining order is scheduled for April 21st. The current order prohibits Pearce from contacting Jackson or approaching within 500 feet of her home or workplace, or within 100 feet of her vehicle.
Pearce’s legal team released a statement to ESPN on Thursday via email, maintaining his innocence and urging the public to understand that the accusations do not represent the complete picture. The statement read, in part, that Pearce “maintains his innocence and urges the public to understand that while accusations have the power to shape a narrative, this is far from the complete and total story.”
Attorneys for Jackson have not yet responded to requests for comment from ESPN. A spokesperson for the NFL stated to ESPN on Thursday that the league is “monitoring all developments related to this matter, which remains under review under the personal conduct policy.”
The Atlanta Falcons declined to comment on the situation.
Records indicate that Florida police responded to at least seven prior 911 calls involving Pearce and a former girlfriend – whose name has been redacted from police reports – between November and the date of his arrest.
