Stockholm, Sweden – After a ten-year battle with cancer, Swedish television personality Camilla Nordlund has received the news she’d long hoped for: she is officially cancer-free. The 39-year-old shared the emotional update on Instagram this week, marking a significant milestone in her journey and offering a message of hope to others facing similar challenges.
Nordlund, a familiar face to sports fans as a presenter for MAX and Discovery’s coverage of Allsvenskan, as well as her role as an Olympic anchor for HBO Max, was diagnosed with the rare disease sarkom in late 2016. Sarkom affects the body’s connective tissues – muscles, fat, cartilage, bone and connective tissue – and presented a formidable challenge. The diagnosis came after she noticed a lump on her leg, and after some hesitation prompted by her sister, sought medical attention.
“I honestly didn’t think it would experience so special because so much time has passed,” Nordlund wrote on Instagram, as reported by Expressen. “All the check-ups have been great and there have been no signs that the cancer would return. But it still puts a period to a period, and now What we have is 100 percent over. It feels great to reach that milestone and close that chapter of my life.”

Nordlund’s journey began at a particularly poignant moment in her life. She had recently completed the Stockholm Marathon, feeling “immortal,” as she described it, when she received the devastating diagnosis. The initial shock and uncertainty were overwhelming, but she quickly resolved to face the challenge head-on.
“Of course, it was incredibly shocking,” Nordlund told Expressen. “You don’t think it will happen to you, you’re a bit naive in that way. So unreal is the best way to describe it.” She acknowledged the fear she experienced, particularly during the period of uncertainty before a clear treatment plan was established.
Rather than succumb to despair, Nordlund channeled her energy into a positive outlet. She launched a fundraising campaign for the Swedish Cancer Foundation (Cancerfonden), initially aiming to raise 50,000 Swedish krona. The campaign resonated deeply with the public, ultimately collecting over 800,000 krona – a testament to Nordlund’s inspiring spirit and the generosity of her supporters.
“That was absolutely fantastic, and it makes you look back on this period with some warmth,” she said. “To raise that much money was unbelievable.”

The experience has profoundly shifted Nordlund’s perspective on life. She emphasizes the importance of appreciating every moment and making the most of the time we have. “It has absolutely given me different perspectives on life,” she stated. “That nothing is guaranteed and to make the most of the life you have here now. You don’t always decide what life gives you, but you can decide how you choose to face it. And try to discover the bright spots that exist.”
Nordlund’s story is particularly poignant given her active lifestyle prior to the diagnosis. Her completion of the Stockholm Marathon underscored her feeling of invincibility, making the subsequent news all the more jarring. The journey through treatment and recovery has undoubtedly been arduous, but her resilience and positive outlook have served as an inspiration to many.
As she looks to the future, Nordlund remains optimistic. While she is keeping details of her upcoming projects close to the vest for now, she expressed excitement about what lies ahead. She also offered a playful prediction for the upcoming Allsvenskan season, tipping Hammarby to finally claim the championship title, though acknowledging Mjällby’s potential for another strong showing.
