Loudéac, France – The Comité régional Bretagne de tir à l’arc (Brittany Archery Regional Committee) is actively developing its officiating corps, with upcoming training sessions and examinations scheduled throughout 2026. The initiative aims to bolster the region’s 114 active archery officials and support a growing archery community in Brittany.
According to Marie-Pierre Rogue, treasurer and head of officials for the Brittany Archery Regional Committee, the training program is a year-long commitment, encompassing eight days of theoretical instruction and practical, on-the-field experience. “The training for an official takes place over a year, with eight days dedicated to theory and practical application,” Rogue explained. Aspiring officials as young as 14 can begin their journey, with full federal certification available after age 16. Importantly, there is no upper age limit for becoming an archery official.
Brittany’s archery landscape currently includes 95 clubs and 5,612 licensed archers, creating a significant demand for qualified officials. The region is divided into four departments, each with a dedicated contingent of officials: 23 in Côtes-d’Armor, 32 in Finistère, 36 in Ille-et-Vilaine, and 23 in Morbihan.
Upcoming Training and Examination Schedule
The next examination for prospective officials is slated for April 11th in Loudéac. Additional training sessions are planned for the summer months, with a further examination scheduled for November, aligning with national dates. All examinations will be conducted online.
