Argenton-sur-Creuse Archery Club: Regional Championships & National Successes 2025

Argenton-sur-Creuse, France – The Archer Club Argentonnais is gearing up for a busy outdoor season following a successful run of competitions in indoor archery. While the club won’t host the regional championships this year, having successfully staged the event in June 2025 at the George-Marandon stadium, they are focused on building momentum from recent individual achievements.

The club hosted the regional outdoor championship and the DR3 team final in June 2025, attracting 240 competitors to the George-Marandon stadium. This year, the regional event will be held elsewhere, but the Archer Club Argentonnais remains committed to its athletes’ development.

“The outdoor competitions finished well for us, as two of our sixty-five members shone at the French Championships in Saint-Avertin (Indre-et-Loire) in late July,” explained Patrick Ferrand, the club president. The French Championships represent a key moment in the French archery calendar, and the performance of Argenton’s athletes underscores the growing strength of the club.

Nonie Ferrand, Patrick’s wife, secured a bronze medal in the master category at 60 meters. This achievement builds on her previous success, having won a national title in 2021 at Riom (Puy-de-Dôme). Her consistent performance demonstrates a high level of skill and dedication to the sport. Pascal Delorme also delivered a strong showing, finishing 6th in the senior 3 compound bow category at the 3D archery course competition.

The Archer Club Argentonnais, founded in 1923, has a long history within the local sporting community. The club is part of a larger omnisport organization, indicating its integration into the broader athletic landscape of Argenton-sur-Creuse. The club maintains an active presence on Facebook, providing updates and engaging with its members and supporters.

The success at the French Championships follows a positive trend for the club, which saw promising results in indoor competitions earlier in the year. Archery, like many sports in France, is experiencing increased interest, potentially fueled by the upcoming Olympic Games. The club’s president noted the positive impact of the upcoming Games on the sport’s popularity within the Indre department.

While the Archer Club Argentonnais won’t be hosting the regional championships this year, they hosted a preparatory competition on June 11, 2025, at their training grounds in Les Marais. This event served as a warm-up for the regional championships, bringing together 50 participants from the Indre, Indre-et-Loire, and Creuse departments. Archers competed using both classic and compound bows, targeting distances ranging from 10 to 70 meters.

The club’s focus now shifts to supporting its athletes as they compete in various outdoor events throughout the season. With a strong foundation of experienced archers and a growing number of dedicated members, the Archer Club Argentonnais is poised for continued success. The dedication of athletes like Nonie Ferrand and Pascal Delorme, combined with the leadership of President Patrick Ferrand, provides a solid base for future achievements.

The next scheduled event for the Archer Club Argentonnais is currently unconfirmed, but updates will be posted on their Facebook page. Fans and supporters can follow the club’s progress and learn more about their activities through their official social media channels.
