Arcieri Virtus: Argento al Campionato Italiano di Tiro con l’Arco 2026 | Sara Romani, Simona Bortolotti & Serena Avancini

Rome, Italy – The Arcieri Virtus women’s archery team secured a silver medal at the 53rd Italian Archery Championships, held Sunday, March 1st at the Nuova Fiera di Roma. The team of Sara Romani, Simona Bortolotti, and Serena Avancini finished second in the barebow senior women’s division, falling to Arcieri delle Alpi in a tightly contested final.

The Arcieri Virtus squad, representing the Alto Garda region, held a lead for much of the final match before being overtaken by the Piedmontese team of Arcieri delle Alpi, who ultimately won with a score of 6-2. The silver medal represents a significant achievement for the team, who received their invitation to compete in mid-February.

The competition wasn’t limited to the women’s team. Simona Bortolotti and Serena Avancini also competed in the individual barebow event, while Michele Cont represented Arcieri Virtus in the men’s barebow senior competition. Cont maintained his consistent performance throughout the championships, and the women’s senior team initially secured second place in their category before advancing to the absolute title contention.

The path to the final wasn’t easy. In the quarter-finals, Arcieri Virtus faced a challenging match against Altopiano di Pinè, a team they described as “cousins,” ultimately winning after a tie-breaker shoot-off. They then defeated Arcieri Bresciani 6-2 in the semi-finals to earn their spot in the championship match.

“This success wouldn’t have been possible without the constant presence of our coaches and support staff,” the team stated. “Their support helps us improve our safety, technique, and precision – the foundation of every good shot.”

Local sports official Mario Caproni praised the team’s accomplishment, stating, “Congratulations to the archers of Virtus for a truly critical placement, and especially for the dedication it took to get there. Congratulations also to Michele Cont and all the staff. A heartfelt thanks to those who dedicate so much of their time, expertise, and passion to supporting our young athletes in this lovely sport.”

The Italian Archery Championships showcase the highest level of competitive archery in Italy, drawing athletes from across the country. The barebow discipline, known for its emphasis on skill and precision without the aid of sights or stabilizers, demands exceptional technique and mental fortitude from its competitors. For those unfamiliar, barebow archery requires archers to rely solely on their instinctive ability and physical prowess, making it a particularly challenging and rewarding form of the sport.

The Arcieri Virtus team’s performance highlights the growing strength of archery in the Trentino region. The team’s dedication and the support of their coaches and local officials have been instrumental in their success. The club, based in Riva del Garda, has become a prominent force in Italian archery, consistently producing athletes who compete at the national and international levels.

While the Arcieri delle Alpi took home the gold, the silver medal earned by Arcieri Virtus is a testament to their hard work and commitment. The team will undoubtedly use this experience as motivation as they look ahead to future competitions. The 2026 season promises to be an exciting one for Italian archery, with athletes continuing to push the boundaries of the sport.

The team’s next scheduled competition has not yet been announced, but updates will be available on the Arcieri Virtus official website and social media channels. Fans can also follow the Italian Archery Federation for news and results from upcoming events.

Archysport will continue to follow the progress of Arcieri Virtus and provide updates on their future competitions.
