Berlin, Germany – The second installment of the C-RLT O19 Einzel badminton tournament concluded on March 15th at the BC Matchpoint Berlin, showcasing competitive play and innovative tournament management. Approximately 120 players participated in the event, which saw Helen Roser and Siad Wolff emerge as champions in their respective categories.
This year’s tournament marked a significant step forward in streamlining the competition process. Organizers implemented a new system utilizing TV game scoreboards and tablets, allowing for quicker results and real-time updates for both players, and spectators. Initially, there were some adjustments needed, but participants were ultimately able to track their play and rest times efficiently via the digital displays. Even those unable to attend in person could follow the live scores, a feature made possible by the support of KBC and the tournament committee.
The women’s singles final in the DE A class featured an upset victory by Helen Roser of PreussenPark. Roser, an unseeded player, defeated fourth/sixth-seeded Marlene Krauthausen of BSC in a closely contested match, winning 21:16 and 21:19. Roser’s recent experience competing in the Regionalliga likely contributed to her success, providing a competitive edge in the final.
In the men’s singles competition, top-seeded Siad Wolff (SCB) demonstrated his dominance, securing a win against Ammon Kutay (BSC). Kutay had previously fought through challenging three-set matches in both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, winning 21:19 in each. Although, Wolff proved too strong in the final, taking the match 23:21 and 21:12.
A new addition to this year’s A-class tournament was the introduction of prize money for the top three finishers. Combined with a well-regarded cafeteria, the BC Matchpoint Berlin provided an excellent overall experience for all involved.
Parallel to the competition at BC Matchpoint Berlin, a portion of the tournament also took place at TSV Spandau. In total, 4 of the 12 qualifying groups completed their matches at the Spandau location.
The Badminton-Verband Berlin-Brandenburg (BVBB) expressed gratitude to all supporters for their contributions to the successful organization of the tournament and extended congratulations to all participating players.
Players competed across several divisions, including HE-A, HE-B, HE-E through HE I, and DE A, as well as HE-C, HE-D, DE-B, and DE-C. Detailed results for each division can be found on the DBV tournament website: HE-A, HE-B, HE-E bis HE I, DE A and HE-C, HE-D, DE-B, DE-C.
