Youth League: Sporting vs. Germany & Benfica vs. AZ Alkmaar

After two difficult games in the playoffs, Sporting and Benfica found out their opponents for the round of 16 of the UEFA Youth League. The Lions will face Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, while the Reds will host AZ Alkmaar, winners of the competition in 2022/23.

In the draw held in Nyon, it was decided that the Sporting and Benfica games will be held between the 24th and 25th of February, with the tie being played in a single game.

The Portuguese teams also now know the possible path to the final of the competition. In the quarter-finals, both Sporting and Benfica will have to play away from home, dictated by a second draw.

If they beat Eintracht Frankfurt, the Lions will have to travel to the home of the winner of the tie between Real Madrid and Chelsea, while the Eagles, if they overcome AZ Alkmaar, will go to the home of the winner of the game between Inter and Betis.

The quarter-final games will be played on March 17/18, and then the final four will be in Nyon, Switzerland, with the semi-finals to be played on April 17. The decisive game of the competition is scheduled for the same location as the semi-finals, on April 20th.
