While a snowstorm forced the NBA to postpone San Antonio’s match against Orlando by a few hours, Victor Wembanyama returned to this episode which turned the Spurs’ day upside down.

Initially scheduled for 3 p.m. there, the meeting between San Antonio and Orlando finally took place on Sunday at 8 p.m. (i.e. 3 a.m. in France), the fault of a snowstorm which disrupted the Spurs during their return from North Carolina, where they had faced the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday (106-111 defeat). After many adventures, the Texans still managed to return home and beat the Magic (112-103).

After the 33rd success of the season for his franchise, Victor Wembanyama, who shone in front of his audience, returned to this funny episode. “ It’s been an endless day. We’ve been up since 6 a.m. Charlotte time, and now it’s almost midnight. It was certainly not the best conditions, but still better than many others…”, initially explained the French pivot.

Wembanyama: “I’ve clearly had worse”

« I’ve definitely had worse in my career. There was no excuse. We had to be ready this (Sunday) evening. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter. I’ve experienced much worse back-to-backs. I wasn’t there, but for example the team had already played in San Antonio, then traveled to Orlando and landed around 4 a.m. That’s much harder than what we did today,” Wembanyama subsequently declared to the press.

“The big advantage in the NBA, and it goes both ways, is that the teams are very careful about it, as are the players individually. Everything teams organize for players on the road is very personalized. (…) The NBA has a lot of resources, the franchises have a lot of power to adapt to all situations. And even today, everything was made easier than elsewhere,” also recognized the number 1 in the 2023 draft, in comments taken up by Basket USA.
