Wawrinka receives wildcard
The next stop on Stan Wawrinka’s (ATP 105) farewell tour is Rotterdam. The 40-year-old from Vaud will take part in the indoor event in the Dutch metropolis next week. At the invitation of the organizers of the ATP 500 tournament, the former world number 3 will meet 29-year-old Australian Aleksandar Vukic (ATP 88) in the first round on Monday or Tuesday. Wawrinka won the only duel so far in Indian Wells 2023 (6:4, 1:6, 6:1).
Bencic has to miss the game due to illness
Belinda Bencic has also withdrawn from the first WTA 1000 tournament of the year in Doha, which begins on Monday. The St. Gallen resident does not seem to have yet recovered from the illness that forced her to forfeit in Abu Dhabi (WTA 500) at the beginning of the week.
