Villefranche-de-Rouergue Badminton: GBC12 Tournament Success

With 270 players and 300 matches played over two days, the annual tournament of the Grand Villefranchois Badminton Club confirmed its success.

This is the big event of the weekend at the end of January and beginning of February 2026 for the GBC12 (Gaspar badminton club), with the organization of its annual tournament for adults, over two days at the Robert-Fabre gymnasium.

This competition, which would not be possible without the help of private sponsors (API Solutions, Moulin du Pic-vert, Fontalbat-Mazars, etc.), attracted everyone’s attention. The club also thanks the help of institutions (town hall) to allow the use of the large gymnasium room.

The tournament, over two days, involves 300 matches to be organized in accordance with the rules of the French Badminton Federation under the eyes of the referee. The players, numbering around 270, come from the department (Rodez, Olemps, Capdenac, Cransac, Le Monastère), but also from our regional neighbors (Figeac, Bouriane, Bretenoux-Biars, Aurillac, Arpajon, Albi, Lescure-d’Albigeois, Castres, Caussade, Marvejols, etc.). After the classification pools by category (women’s singles, women’s doubles, mixed, men’s doubles, men’s singles) and by levels, the aim of which is to bring out the four semi-finalists, it’s time for the rewards.

A 2026 edition in line with the previous ones, where we must also highlight the help of the club’s volunteers who allow the flawless organization of a tournament where players said they appreciated the room and the atmosphere that emerges. On to the next edition.
