On Sunday 1 February 2026, the first badminton tournament of the fifth edition of the VERGANTE BADMINTON TROPHY took place in the gym named after Mario Genova, mayor of Pisano who strongly wanted the construction of this structure.
The tournament
“With the patronage of the Vergante municipalities and local associations, in addition to the support of our faithful sponsors FARMACIA BELLORA, LA MOLLETTA, LAMAY, PAGLIERINI 1902, SPAZIO PISCINE and RACHELLI REAL ESTATE, the senior and under 13 categories competed in the doubles specialty, as well as the under 13 singles for the Baddy Cup, a federal promotional event,” declared the Gioko ASD association.
The mix of couples, deliberately heterogeneous, led to interesting and hard-fought matches. In the senior category, the couple formed by Giuseppe Bertolino and Tommaso Garbaccio triumphed, winning all the matches. In second place was the couple made up of “grandfather” Guido Sommaruga, 78 years old, and the young Leo Lorenzini, born in 2010, who preceded Paola Morosini and Marco Garbaccio, respectively president and vice-president of the association.
In the under 13s, the final saw a very tight match between Greta Miazzo and Mattia Pasino, who got the better of Elia Genova and Amir Moussafir.
In the Baddy Cup for the under 13 singles, Mattia Pasino won easily against Elia Genova and Amir Moussafir.
“After this event, a period of break awaits us in view of the first test of the Regional UNDER 11 CIRCUIT, which will be held on Saturday 11 April, followed by the second test of the VERGANTE BADMINTON TROPHY, scheduled in Pisano the following day. Furthermore, on 22 March, Pisano will host for the first time the Regional Master Championship in the disciplines of singles, doubles and mixed doubles”.
