O Botafogo face Vasco this Sunday (8/2), at 6pm, in São Januário, in the last round of the Guanabara Cup. Carioca Championshipwithout pretensions. Glorioso will finish Group B at the top with any result.
Because of this, Fogão already knows that they will face Flamengo (4th place) in the quarter-finals, in a single game on Carnival Sunday (15/2), probably at the Nilton Santos Stadium, with divided fans and no advantage – if there is a draw, the decision will be on penalties.
If they beat Vasco, Botafogo would still have a chance to win the Guanabara Cup, given to the team with the best campaign in the first phase – but, to do so, it depends on Fluminense’s defeat to the eliminated Maricá, at 8:30 pm, at Maracanã.
Due to the importance of the game and the sequence in the Brazilian Championship – in addition to the debut in the Libertadores approaching –, coach Martín Anselmi must choose a team that is mostly under-20. Only Léo Linck and Bastos, from the main squad, should start playing.
