Vasco x Botafogo: Watch & Lineups – Carioca 2024

O Botafogo face Vasco this Sunday (8/2), at 6pm, in São Januário, in the last round of the Guanabara Cup. Carioca Championshipwithout pretensions. Glorioso will finish Group B at the top with any result.

Because of this, Fogão already knows that they will face Flamengo (4th place) in the quarter-finals, in a single game on Carnival Sunday (15/2), probably at the Nilton Santos Stadium, with divided fans and no advantage – if there is a draw, the decision will be on penalties.

If they beat Vasco, Botafogo would still have a chance to win the Guanabara Cup, given to the team with the best campaign in the first phase – but, to do so, it depends on Fluminense’s defeat to the eliminated Maricá, at 8:30 pm, at Maracanã.

Due to the importance of the game and the sequence in the Brazilian Championship – in addition to the debut in the Libertadores approaching –, coach Martín Anselmi must choose a team that is mostly under-20. Only Léo Linck and Bastos, from the main squad, should start playing.

✖️ Botafogo embezzlement

  • Kaio Pantaleão (multiligament injury to the left knee)
  • Ythallo (not regularized)
  • Marçal (right knee strain)

  • Joaquin Correa (injury)
  • Chris Ramos (injury)

🟨 Hanging

Only defender Justino is hanging with two yellow cards. He played in the first two rounds, when Botafogo played with the under-20s, and if he receives a card this Sunday he cannot be involved in the quarter-final match against Flamengo.

🔍 The opponent

For Vasco, who only have two victories in 2026, the classic is worth much more. The team reached the quarter-finals with Sampaio Corrêa’s 7-1 defeat to Flamengo this Saturday. However, if Botafogo draws or loses, they will face Fluminense in the quarterfinals. In case of victory over Glorioso, Vasco will face Volta Redonda in São Januário.
