US Sassuolo Calcio announces that it has acquired the sporting performances of the footballer Ulisses Garcia from Olympique Marseille, with the formula of the loan with right to purchase.
Born in Almada on 11 January 1996, Ulisses Alexandre Garcia Lopes, better known as Ulisses Garcia, is a Portuguese naturalized Swiss footballer.
Having grown up as a footballer between Geneva and Zurich, he joined Grasshopper Club Zürich at a very young age, where he made his debut in the first team and in 2014 also played his first match in the UEFA Europa League.
In July 2016, in his early twenties, he was purchased by Werder Bremen, making appearances for both the first team and the reserve team. His experience in Germany ended in January 2018 with a loan move to Nuremberg.
From 2018 to 2024 Ulisses Garcia returns to Switzerland, becoming one of the points of reference for the Young Boys of Bern. In six seasons he made a total of 195 appearances in the league and cups, also playing 15 matches in the UEFA Champions League. With the Bern club he won 4 Super League championships and a Swiss Cup, establishing himself as a starter also in European competitions.
In January 2024 he moved to Olympique Marseille, where he played continuously in Ligue 1 and Coupe de France in the role of left back, collecting 42 appearances and 2 goals, as well as two appearances in the current edition of the UEFA Champions League.
At national level, Garcia has chosen to represent Switzerland: after 35 appearances in the youth national teams, from 2021 to today he has collected 11 appearances with the senior national team.
