Walls and trusses have collapsed during the construction of the new hockey arena in Tingsryd.
The emergency services and police have been on the scene, but no one should have been injured, reports say Smålandsposten.
During Sunday afternoon, an alarm came that the ice rink in Tingsryd had collapsed. It is about the new arena building in the area next to the existing arena, Dackehallen, where Tingsryds AIF plays its home games in Hockeyettan.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene.
– It has collapsed to such an extent that what we are doing now is to block it off to ensure that no more people enter the race masses and what is at risk of collapsing. From what I understand, not everything has collapsed. There is a wall standing and in danger of collapsing into the old Dackehallen. The old Dackehallen has been evacuated, says operations leader Hans Fransson to Smålandsposten.
Tingsryd responds after the race: “Everyone is fine”
These are the walls and trusses that have collapsed. As a result of the collapse, the Dackehallen, right next door, has been evacuated. According to Tingsryd’s AIF chairman Jakob Klingstedt, a junior match was being played inside the Dackehallen when the collapse in the adjacent building occurred. The match had to be canceled and the arena evacuated as a result of the crash.
– Everyone is fine and there are no injuries and that is the only thing that is interesting at this stage, says Jakob Klingstedt who does not want to comment on how the collapse and the damage have affected the building, however there should be no damage at all to the Dackehallen.
The new arena in Tingsryd was expected to be ready in the fall of 2026, in time for the premiere of the next season.
