Teen Footballer Dies of Heart Attack – Vaucluse

Drama in Vaucluse. While an amateur football match was being played this Wednesday evening in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, a 17-year-old young man collapsed on the pitch. Victim of a heart attack, the FC Alpilles player in the U19 category (players under 19 years old) was quickly taken care of by the emergency services, before dying the next day in hospital.

Grieving, FC Alpilles canceled all its weekend matches and set up a psychological support unit for its licensees. “It’s a tragedy for us, for the club, for his family. He was like our child. We don’t understand, he had no health problems,” Mario Nardeli, the president of the club where the deceased had played for around ten years, responded to ICI Vaucluse.

“Practicing a sport, playing football allows you to have fun, make friends, experience strong emotions, store extraordinary memories… But certainly not to encounter death,” writes the Grand Vaucluse Football district on its social networks.

The body announced at the same time that it had postponed the championship day planned for this weekend for the U19s to a later date. “On all other grounds, we will observe a minute of silence to pay tribute to him,” she adds. Vaucluse football is in mourning.
