Szalai’s full statement is as follows:
“Sometimes life presents you with unexpected challenges. I came to Kasımpaşa to take responsibility, to give everything for the club and to lead on the field.
Everything was fine until the new coach came… From the first day, I started to be held responsible for issues that were not my responsibility. These were issues from my time at Fenerbahçe.
Instead of open conversations, there was silence. Instead of honesty, statements were made behind my back. Without even a single one-on-one meeting, I was relieved of the captaincy by someone who had been captain himself for years and knew what this role meant.
However, I remained quiet, worked respectfully, and acted professionally at all times. Finally, I had to make a decision for myself: Respect, honesty and openness are indispensable. So now it’s time to move on.
Thank you Kasimpasa. Thank you to everyone at the club who has been honest, supportive and humane; You made this process valuable for me. “I leave with my head held high, my conscience clear and full motivation for the process ahead.”
