The activities of the mid-year sports session for pentathlon football ended at the Mudmar Youth Center of the Tama Administration for Youth and Sports in Sohag.

The final match was between the Cubs and Al-Nasr teams, and ended with the Cubs team winning 4/1 at the expense of the Al-Nasr team, and in-kind prizes were distributed to the winners.

The sports course aims to discover and support talents in team and individual sports in accordance with the vision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports towards preparing a generation of athletes qualified to compete in internal and external tournaments, and to occupy their leisure time.

Nothing disturbed the peace of the participating players during the course of the match, and at the end of the day the competing teams exchanged greetings in a sporting spirit that pleased everyone and took some souvenir photos with each other.

Dr. Mohamed Faridshawqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sohag, indicated that the Egyptian state attaches great importance to the file of supporting sports talents, enhancing their physical abilities, and giving them experience and skill.

This comes with the follow-up of Yasser Al-Senussi, Undersecretary of the Directorate for Youth.

It is noteworthy that under the slogan My Fitness is My Skill, the Youth and Sports Directorate launched the activities of the Sports for Development Program camp in Sohag, which is implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Central Administration for Sports Development and the Grassroots Administration in cooperation with UNICEF, for 7 groups with a total of 182 participants through training groups for the age group of 10 to 15 years.

Mohamed Farid Shawqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sohag, confirmed that the camps include sports, awareness and skill activities, aimed at enhancing girls’ abilities and developing their life skills, in addition to consolidating the concept of practicing sports as a way of life.

The participants expressed their happiness with the new experiences they gained during the camp, appreciating the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Sohag.

Muhammad Zakaria, Undersecretary of the Directorate for Sports, added that the program aims to apply life skills through sports, practicing sports, and physical activity for girls, empowering girls, motivating them to participate effectively, and acquiring skills for dealing with others, effective communication, cooperation, and the ability to think logically and solve problems in order to bring about change and have an effective role in society.

The program also includes training girls in “Dawai” circles under the slogan “Your story completes their story” by holding storytelling circles and circles with a number of girls meeting regularly in a series of sessions to share their experiences and stories, and ending these circles with a community dialogue, with the aim of providing a safe space for girls to gather and share the experiences that changed their lives through stories.

The girls for each group are evaluated through forms prepared for this purpose to measure the level of the girls. At the end of the program, the girls are also evaluated to measure the extent to which the program has improved the skills, abilities, and ideas of the girls in the group.

The Undersecretary of the Directorate for Sports thanked the project coordinator and the Sohag female trainers for starting the camps in the new format and training with the available tools, urging them to regularly train and finish the lessons scheduled for each group according to the lesson models prescribed by the Ministry and UNICEF.

This came under the patronage of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Wafa Moussa, Head of the Central Administration for Sports Development, Dr. Sameh Mansour, Director General of the General Administration of the Popular Grassroots, Dr. Mohamed Farid Shawqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sohag, and Dr. Samia Eid, Project Coordinator in the Ministry, and with the follow-up of Mohamed Zakaria, Undersecretary of the Directorate for Sports.
