Slavia vs Sparta: League Update & Results

The defending champions have not lost 21 games in a row in the league and are the only ones to remain unbeaten in the top flight this season. However, after Sparta’s 3-0 win at Dukla on Saturday, their lead over their city rivals at the top of the table was reduced to five points. The East Bohemians did not lose four rounds in a row and moved to 10th place.

Slavia did not get their first victory even in the third competition match of the spring part of the season, at the end of January at the end of the league phase of the Champions League, they lost to Barcelona 2:4 at home and on Wednesday in Limassol Paphos 1:4. The Pardubice team did not beat the Vršovice team in the league even on the 12th attempt, but after a series of 10 losses against them they scored points.

At home, one of the best gunners in the competition, Patrák, dropped out of the game due to an injury in the lower part of his body during Friday’s training session. Solil took over the captain’s armband in his place, celebrating today’s 26th birthday in style. Mandous, who moved to East Bohemia from Slavia in January, made his competitive debut in the home goal. In the starting line-up of Pardubice, there was also an old face from Liberec, midfielder Hlavatý. Lisbon Jurásek, who returned from Benfica in January, joined Slavia’s starting eleven.

After less than four minutes, the former player Botos advanced alone on the goal after Tank’s pass, but he headed punishingly wide. On the contrary, the guests struck from the first event. Chorý passed to Jurásk on the left side, who crossed in front of the goal to Provod, who got rid of Solil and beat Mandouse. The Czech international scored in the second round in a row and the fifth in the season of the top competition, thanks to which he created a scoring maximum in one league season.

In the 12th minute, in the middle of the field, Oscar stepped on Hlavaté’s ankle. After a while, the video referee entered the game, and the head referee Nehasil, after watching repeated footage, excluded the Slavist midfielder. Oscar received the fifth red card in the Czech league. The Prague team also finished Wednesday’s match against Paphos in a weakened state.

Pardubice could have equalized after half an hour, but goalkeeper Staněk struggled to save Samuel Šimek’s attempt from a free kick for a corner. Immediately, he also dealt with his shot pass. Moments later, Slavia added a second goal thanks to Choré, but he was disallowed due to offside. Vršovičí then demanded a penalty after Šimek pushed Provod, but without a response. At the end of the opening act, Mandous blocked Provod’s shot, and Staněk again held Slavia at Botos’ finish.

At the beginning of the second half, Staněk got the better of Šimek for the third time. After that, the game was played without chances for a long time, until in the 69th minute, Chorý did not get through after a quick break. In the 84th minute, Mahuta crossed into the box and Vechet equalized with a header with his back to the goal. The Pardubice attacker followed up on two goals against Ostrava in the last autumn round.

Chorý tried for an immediate answer and aimed just above. On the opposite side, substitute Samuel wasted a great opportunity in the penalty area. In the set-up again, Mandous scraped Provod’s shot to the corner. In the end, Vecheta could decide, but this time he headed just wide.
