Schreuder: Ajax & Feyenoord Pursuit Ruled Out by Boekhoorn

Marcel Boekhoorn is confident that Dick Schreuder will remain ‘normal’ trainer of NEC. The lender of the Nijmegen residents said this in Goedemorgen Eredivisie. Ajax and Feyenoord also ‘don’t stand a chance’ according to Boekhoorn.

NEC is having a dream season and can even hope for the Champions League. The Nijmegen team won 4-1 against Heracles Almelo on Saturday and took over second place in the Eredivisie from Feyenoord. This raises the question for Hans Kraay Jr. whether Schreuder can be kept. “Despite a continuous contract, trainers always leave for an apple and an egg. Why is it impossible for FC Twente, FC Utrecht and AZ to remove Dick Schreuder.”

Boekhoorn has a ‘short and simple’ answer to that. “Dick Schreuder has been with us for three years, is having a great time, is doing excellently and will remain with us for the next three years.” ESPN presenter Milan van Dongen wonders whether ‘a bag of money’ from Feyenoord or Ajax can change that, but Boekhoorn is certain. “It doesn’t matter, not a chance”

Bram van Polen enjoys Boekhoorn’s ‘opportunism’, but paints a different picture himself. “I wish them a lot of success with that. They started this process with Schreuder, so they want to keep it up. But if they reach the Champions League, I never believe that Dick Schreuder can be kept for NEC. Then other clubs from abroad will come.”
