Drake Maye, announced crack
At the Super Bowl, Sam Darnold will face a quarterback with a much more stellar rise. Third choice – like Darnold – in the 2024 draft, Drake Maye greatly contributed to the rebirth of the Patriots, going from one of the worst to one of the best teams in the NFL between 2024 and 2025. For his second season in the League, the North Carolina product even failed to come within a few votes of being elected MVP.
More precise and playing with less waste than Darnold, he is also capable of extending plays with his legs. The play-offs still showed that he could panic and lose balls under pressure, a fault which brings him closer to Darnold and which constitutes one of the big X factors of the next Super Bowl.
