The French Ligue 1 published several messages on social network X after the Russian goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Matvey Safonov saved a penalty in the match against Strasbourg.
Safonov, who returned from a broken hand, entered the field in the starting lineup for the second time in a row. In the 20th minute, the Russian saved a penalty kick from Joaquin Panicelli and helped the team win with a score of 2:1, despite the sending off of Achraf Hakimi (in the 75th).
Safonov was recognized as the best player of the match.
On the tournament page in X they published a video with Safonov’s save and the caption “He’s doing it again,” as well as photo collages of this game moment and episode in the penalty shootout of the Intercontinental Cup, where Safonov was rocked in his arms after four repelled shots.
The final of the Intercontinental Cup with the Brazilian Flamengo took place on December 17. The Russian suffered a fracture during the penalty shootout, but continued to fight back and brought the team victory.
