Rögle Beats Malmö: Skåne Derby Win | SHL

Rögle are kings in Skåne 25/26.

After losing all six games against arch-rivals Malmö last season, they have once again put themselves in a position as Skåne’s best team.

– We have restored order, says Isac Solberg in Rögle.

The article in brief

Rögle took revenge and won 4–1 against Malmö, who now have three straight losses.

Malmö had only four shots after half the match – Rögle decided early.

The referee’s sentence was questioned by Malmö’s coach after several questionable situations.

Isac Solberg was praised after his decisive goal and could be a key player in a possible playoff against Malmö.

Two and a half weeks ago, Malmö scored six goals and beat Rögle away from home.

This evening there was no talk.

After half the match, Malmö had only managed four shots against Christoffer Rifalk and Rögle had established the victory with 3-0 after the first period.

The winning numbers were finally written at 4-1 for the away team and thus Malmö collected their third straight loss.

Malmö defender Johan Ivarsson, who is hardly a favorite in Ängelholm after last year’s playoffs, was tricked by Isac Solberg.

– Fun for him, he welds it up nicely, says Ivarsson.

What happens on the target?

– You could say I’m exposing myself. I stand still and he tricks me with a little wiggle. Things like that happen, says Johan Ivarsson.

“Doubtful – inconsistent”

Afterwards, Malmö coach Tomas Kollar was asked about his thoughts on Dennis Everberg cross-checking Robin Hanzl, among other things. Then he directed criticism at the judges.

– There were several situations that are questionable. Sjökvist… question mark there today. We have diving at Pajuniemi and Everberg has a similar one, says Kollar on TV4 and continues:

– It is inconsistent. You get upset. We lose and have to examine ourselves… but there are several such situations.

Dan Tangnes chooses after the match to put most of his energy into paying tribute to players who normally don’t get much visibility in the media and the big headlines.

Players such as Isac Solberg receive a lot of praise from Tangnes.

– All teams want a wide production. It is clear that it feels good to hear the words from the coach. Super nice to get that appreciation, says Solberg.

Isac Solberg punctuated the game when he made it 4-1 in the third period. After that, the home team’s chances for points disappeared completely. With that, Rögle has also “corrected” the order in the county, as we were told all summer, after the six straight losses last year.

– This was good for all Ängelholmers. That means gold for everyone in here, and also for everyone around us, says Solberg.

Can be pitted against each other in the playoffs

What do you say about your goal when you trick Ivarsson?

– The guys in the team actually said here afterwards that it was him. It was extra good of course. He stood a little still.

Do you want to face Malmö in a quarter-final?

– I say this. We are ready for any team in a playoff. Should we face Malmö in a playoff, we will be more ready than we were last season. At least I can promise that.

Ivarsson:

– Preferably for us. These are fun matches. But we’re not there right now. For us, the focus is only on reversing the trend, says Malmöbacken.
