Rik De Mil: Assistant Search Update – Football News

La Gantoise occupies a good fifth place in the Jupiler Pro League. However, Rik De Mil still has a lot of work ahead of him and is still waiting for an assistant.

La Gantoise faces OHL this weekend. For the Buffalos, this is the ideal opportunity to take another step towards a place in the Champions Play-offs, as mentioned by coach Rik De Mil.

His team remains on a solid ten points out of twelve: “We are going through a period where everything is much better. The results, the game, the atmosphere in the group…”, he confided to Het Laatste Nieuws. He knows that defeat may hit them at some point, but he wants to postpone that moment for as long as possible.

“We have to stay mentally strong. The end of the championship is approaching. It remains to be seen how my group will handle this pressure. Even if I try to take as much as possible off the guys,” he explains clearly.

The winter transfer window was quite limited, although De Mil would have liked to do a little more: “A winter transfer window is never easy. In the end, as a group, we managed the transfer period well. We mainly focused on the guys who are here.”

Looking for an additional assistant

What De Mil still doesn’t have either is an additional deputy. When he was appointed, it was made clear that two assistant coaches would arrive. With Mbaye Leye, only one position has so far been filled: “We prefer to wait for the right moment. This additional deputy will arrive anyway, but it must be someone we are 300% convinced of. There is no point in acting hastily,” concludes De Mil.
