Ried vs LASK: Cup Semi-Final Preview & Derby Clash

A team from Upper Austria is definitely in this year’s ÖFB Cup final: SV Ried welcomes LASK in the semi-finals.

That was the result of today’s cup draw. Salzburg and Altach meet in the second semi-final.

The Rieders had already won 3-0 on Saturday against record champions Rapid, who had come out of the winter break with a disappointing performance, and will now face their Upper Austrian rivals LASK again at home in the semi-finals on March 4th or 5th.

The second-placed team won the Linz derby against Blau-Weiß 3-2 on Friday after being 2-0 down and thus secured their place in the round of the last four.

Altach and Salzburg will contest the second semi-final. The Altach team eliminated champions Sturm Granz in the quarterfinals. The Altach team won 3-1 at home after extra time on Sunday. Salzburg dethroned defending champions WAC. Salzburg won 1-0 in the Lavanttal thanks to a goal from Karim Konate with numerical superiority.
