Pisa recently fired head coach Alberto Gilardino.

According to Sportbladet’s information, the Serie A club now has Elfsborg’s Oscar Hiljemark high on the list of potential replacements for the Italian.

Former Italian striker Albert Gilardino took over as coach in Pisa this summer. Then the 43-year-old signed a contract until the summer of 2027.

However, Pisa have struggled, winning just one of 23 matches in Serie A this season. At the same time, the team has played eleven draws and conceded eleven losses.

Barely a day ago, the club also announced that they are firing head coach Alberto Gilardino and Italian media have mentioned Marco Giampaolo as a possible replacement.

According to what Sportbladet has learned, Oscar Hiljemark is also a coaching candidate that Pisa is considering. Elfsborg’s current coach is on the list of possible replacements and a first contact should have been established.

It is unclear how Hiljemark would react if he receives a sharp question from the club and if Elfsborg are willing to let him go.

Hiljemark played for Palermo and Genoa in Italy and made a total of 99 Serie A appearances, seven goals and nine assists.

Pisa is second last in Serie A and is four points away from safety.

33-year-old Hiljemark started his coaching career early, starting as an assistant coach at Denmark’s Aalborg in 2021. He later became head coach of the club in 2023 and a bit into 2024 before signing for Elfsborg in mid-April 2024.

His contract with Elfsborg runs through the 2027 season.
