What a battle! At the end of a tight, ultra-physical encounter from A to Z, Paris Basketball lost 81-75 this Tuesday evening on the grounds of Bayern Munich in the EuroLeague.
It was at the very end of the match that the victory was decided during this 26th day of the regular season. For 35 minutes, our Parisians gave a hard time to Bayern Munich who never cracked.
It’s off to a strong start for Paris! Put into orbit thanks to 2 big long shots from Justin Robinson and Seba Herrera, our players quickly took over the locals. And as soon as the 3 points decrease, Nadir Hifi continues to wreak havoc in the Munich rearguard by causing 3 fouls in 2 minutes! From far and near, our Parisians sanction (10-12). Bayern, however, ended up going ahead… but nonetheless came out of the woods. Again and again, Paris Basketball attacks in a 2QT transformed into real trench warfare. Our 1st line of pressure constantly harasses the opposing ball carriers (12 ball losses in the 1st period). Each possession is a battle, the defense has clearly taken precedence over the offensive and both teams are struggling to pass the 30 point mark.
At the start of the 2nd half nothing is decided. With only 1 small possession behind, Paris Basketball can easily believe it (34-31). Moreover, our team is giving itself the means! As the minutes pass, the game settles down. The appearance of the meeting does not change, except that our Parisians increase the pressure. They run more, they try more, they vary more and come very dangerously close to the locals on multiple occasions (43-42). Once again, only 3 points separate the 2 teams at the end of the QT (52-49). Everything will be decided in the last 10 minutes! Although compact throughout the meeting, the defenses let go. Bayern took advantage before Paris returned to the forefront (64-61).
Action after action, Parisians and Munich residents respond to each other tit for tat. Faced with the efficiency of the premises near the circle, Paris responded very effectively to 3 points (4/6 in the 4QT). Paris Basketball will nevertheless not recover from Andreas Obst’s heatwave (81-75). He missed this little shot, this little lay-up which would have allowed our players to go in front at one point in the game. The absence of this trigger in no way takes away the self-sacrifice shown by this collective.
