Ostapenko’s position in the WTA ranking is unchanged
Latvia’s leading tennis player Aļona Ostapenko has maintained her 24th place in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles world ranking. Her position is stable after the results of the Australian Open. Ostapenko reached the second round of the singles competition at the recent WTA 500 in Abu Dhabi and also secured a place in the second round of the doubles tournament with Czech Barbora Krejcikova.
Strombach has a significant drop in the ATP ranking
Meanwhile, Latvian tennis player Roberts Štrombachs has experienced a significant drop in the ATP singles ranking, slipping to the 406th position. He also left the top 400 before that. Strombach finished the season ranked 378th in the ATP ranking. Currently, Štrombach is Latvia’s best tennis player in doubles, occupying the 602nd place.
Positions of other Latvian tennis players
Other Latvian tennis players have also had changes in their ranking. After the failure in the first round of the Australian Open Championship, Darja Semenistaja has lost one place and is in the 99th position. Anastasia Sevastova has moved up one place to the 185th position. In the doubles WTA ranking, Ostapenko is eighth, losing three positions.
World ranking leaders
Belarusian Arina Sabalenka is still in the leading position of the WTA singles ranking, followed by Polish Iga Šviontek. Meanwhile, Yelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, the winner of the Australian Open Championship, has climbed to the third place.
