MHSC & ESTAC: Stadium Updates & News

Four Ligue 2 teams were entered in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France this Wednesday evening. The leader, Troyes, hosted Lens, 2nd in Ligue 1 at 9 p.m. Half an hour earlier, Laval went to Lyon while Amiens was to Toulouse and ASSE’s next opponent, Montpellier, challenged Nice.

Seventeenth in Ligue 2, Laval wanted to continue its adventure in the Cup. The task promised to be delicate on the pitch at Groupama Stadium against OL.

At the same time, Amiens moved to Toulouse. The Picards are in difficulty in the championship and were banking on the Coupe de France to get a breath of fresh air.

A 100% Ligue 1 match took place between two promoted teams, FC Lorient and Paris FC.

Montpellier for its part hopes to come back on the teams who are playing for the climb. Saturday, the Hérault residents will be in Saint-Etienne to hope to come back to the level of the Greens. Before challenging ASSE, Zoumana Camara’s men went to Nice to hope to reach the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

At 9 p.m., Lens challenged Troyes, leader of Ligue 2. In 2026, ESTAC has lost as many matches as in the first leg of the championship and is starting to lose ground. The Trojans were left with two defeats in a row and wanted to restart some good momentum.

Coupe de France: An evening that could weigh

The Coupe de France delivered its share of emotions this evening. Lorient won against Paris FC (2-0), while Lyon provided the essentials against Laval (2-0). Toulouse also validated its ticket by dominating Amiens (1-0). In the other poster, Lens won on the lawn of Troyes with a spectacular victory (4-2). But ESTAC lost its attacking midfielder Ifnaoui who was hit in the thigh in the 8th minute. Breakdown?

But the cruelest scenario came from Nice – Montpellier. The Héraultais thought they had achieved victory when they won 2-0 in the 69th minute. But Nice first equalized at 2-2 thanks to a goal from Antoine Mendy in the 89th minute… before winning in the final seconds. A goal from Sofiane Diop at the end of added time (90’+7) to win 3-2.

A terrible blow for Montpellier, just three days before facing ASSE, with heads inevitably affected.
