The hot phase of the season begins for Nuova Pallacanestro Marsala. The team didn’t want to find itself in this situation: the objective at the beginning of the year was clear, to aim for the top five positions, but unfortunately it wasn’t able to reach the finish line. Now eight finals are being played, and it’s not a cliché: they are eight decisive battles because the risk of relegation is real. After many years in Serie C, NPM wants to maintain the category at all costs. Saturday at 6pm, at the PalaMedipower in Marsala, home debut against PGS Sales, a team from Catania who faced a tough first phase with objective data, their group was slightly higher in level than that of coach Grillo’s team. PGS Sales is an explosive mix of very young people and veterans: essentially the Under 19 Gold roster, reinforced by the two experts Pappalardo and Verzi. For a few games, they have added Mugnoz, a talent who has done very well in recent games. NPM expects a team with a lot of energy, capable of managing possession in key moments. The Marsala team, however, have an advantage: they play at home, with the crowd of the last matches ready to push even harder.
“We are training very well, the boys are ready for this phase inside or outside”, declares Andrea Anteri, assistant coach of NPM. “From today we can no longer make mistakes: we must be ready for 40 intense minutes both in attack and defence, leaving everything on the pitch in every match. We must give our best, because unfortunately there is no more time.”
