Returning last weekend during the Clasico after suffering a partial muscle tear, Marlon Fossey spoke to Capital Football UK after the match. The American notably spoke about his future.
Marlon Fossey began by talking about his memories at his training club, Fulham: “I played a competitive match in the Carabao Cup. It could have been much more, but I learned a lot at the club. I grew as a man and I was around a lot of first team players who helped me add things to my game. In the end, not playing there led me here (to Standard Liège). I’m not in anger.”
The Liégeois is delighted with the evolution of his former club, which manages to stabilize in the Premier League: “There are good people who work in the shadows, a good technical staff, and players who know the club, like Tom Cairney, and who make sure to maintain high standards in training. It’s a good club, a family club. The machine is launched now and I hope that it will continue.”
“A return to England? I wouldn’t say it’s a dream, but football is sometimes very unpredictable. I might go back, or I might not. For now, I’m happy where I am, and that’s the most important thing.”
Marlon Fossey feels good at Standard
For the moment, he feels good in Liège: “It’s a magnificent club and I am a very, very passionate player (smile).”
As for his future, he doesn’t really think about it: “I try not to plan too much. Life is short and I focus on the next day, on the time to come. We have a very good match next week against Club Brugge, and I can’t wait to be there.”
