City have a good advantage in the match, as they won the first leg by a score of 2-0. Pep Guardiola’s team could even lose by a goal difference to advance to the final.
Guardiola will be without striker Doku and defender Rúben Dias. Another absence is defender Guéhi, who could not be registered for the League Cup. Midfielder Cherki is doubtful.
“We can make the fifth final in 10 years. Newcastle is a Champions League team, we have to be prepared. We will see who will be recovered to play our game, with our fans, to try to reach Wembley in March”, said the Spanish coach.
Newcastle are the current champions of the competition. The team will have to overcome itself and win by at least two goals to take the match to extra time.
Bruno Guimarães will not play this Wednesday. Joelinton, Krafth, Livramento and Schär are other absences. On the other hand, Botman and Willock reinforce the team.
“First, we have to try to win the game. If we have that mentality, with discipline in all aspects, with a good approach to attack, we will see what we can do”, said coach Eddie Howe.
Arsenal are already in the decision of the competition. The Gunners eliminated Chelsea last Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium.
