Islam Makhachev praised Alexander Volkanovski who won the duel against Diego Lopes at UFC 325 while defending Ilia Topuria’s legacy belt at featherweight.
JUARA.NET – Islam Makhachev gave his words to his KO victim who defended the legacy of Ilia Topuria in the main UFC 325 fight.
Islam Makhachev also commented on the victory of featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, at UFC 325.
For your information, Volkanovski was one of the victims of Islam Makhachev’s knockout when he was still in the lightweight class.
The Australian fighter was defeated by Islam in two meetings in 2023.
Balanced at UFC 284, Volkanovski was then KO’d Islam by kicks and punches to the head in the first round at UFC 294.
As a result of this defeat, The Great then decided to move back down to featherweight until he was finally knocked out by Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 in the fight for the belt.
Not long after, Volkanovski inherited the featherweight belt from Topuria, who moved up to the lightweight class.
After winning his first duel against Diego Lopes at UFC 314, Volkanovski returned to success at UFC 325.
Appearing on home soil, The Great won by unanimous decision in a five-round fight against Lopes at Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney, Sunday (1/2/2026).
