Maarten Paes: Ajax Scouting Report & Analysis

Mike Verweij shares the third scouting report of a winter Ajax acquisition X. The Telegraaf journalist previously did this with newcomers Oleksandr Zinchenko and Maher Carrizo, and now the report from goalkeeper Maarten Paes is also circulating on social media.

The assessment is based on a report from the company The Scouting Companyabout the competition from October last year. Paes played an international match against Iraq (1-0). A lost match, but the goalkeeper’s figures are very positive. He gets a daily score of 7.7.

The report mainly focuses on Paes’ physical strengths. “Good height for his position and more than enough strength to physically duel,” it is written. However, there is also an area for improvement to be noted. Paes would not have gone to the ground quickly enough for the opposing goal. The use of only his right leg is also discussed.

Paes was officially presented at Ajax on Monday. He started his professional career at NEC, but never managed to break through with the Nijmegen team. He moved to the United States via FC Utrecht. Paes played almost a hundred matches at FC Dallas before leaving for Amsterdam. The goalkeeper has also played ten international matches for Indonesia.
