Lyon & UBB Supersevens Champions | Rugby News

Lyon, winner in the final of the defending champions from Bobigny (12-10) and Union Bordeaux-Bègles among the men, won the rugby sevens championship organized by the National Rugby League on Saturday at La Défense Arena. After three stages during the summer for the men, one for the women, the best teams were brought together for the final table in the form of direct elimination.

In the women’s final, the Lyonnaises of the international Sevens and XV Chloé Jacquet defeated Bobigny, the favorites, after resisting close to their line in a daggers drawn end to the match. In the men’s category, UBB won the final against Monaco (21-10), after eliminating the defending champions Barbarians in the semi-finals. After being suffocated and deprived of the ball in the first half (0-5), they made the difference by scoring three tries in the second half, including two just after the restart and a last one at the siren.

The men’s championship is made up of the 14 first division teams, who are not required to field players from their squad, as well as two guest clubs, Monaco and the Barbarians who had won the five previous titles since 2022.
