Longevity is unique and exceptional: Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was selected as an alternate for his 22nd consecutive NBA All-Star Game, at the age of 41. The 75th All-Star Game will take place in Los Angeles on February 15 in a format revised this year: instead of a selection of the best elements of the Western Conference opposed in a gala match to a squad of stars from the Eastern Conference, two teams of local players and a third made up of foreigners will meet in a tournament.
NBA all-time leading scorer, four-time MVP and four-time NBA champion, LeBron James averages 21.9 points, 6.6 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in 30 games with the Lakers (29-18). But the veteran was diminished by injuries and his All-Star status was questioned by many observers.
LeBron James finally joined the group of replacements for the West selection, alongside Anthony Edwards, Jamal Murray, Chet Holmgren, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Deni Avdija.
The East’s backups include Jalen Johnson, Donovan Mitchell, Karl-Anthony Towns, Pascal Siakam, Norman Powell, Scottie Barnes and Jalen Duren.
As for the starters, already announced last month, we find in the West Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Stephen Curry and the Frenchman Victor Wembanyama.
The Eastern Conference starters are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Brunson and Cade Cunningham.
