The first judicial match will be played in front of the judges tomorrow morning for the two young men from Manduria arrested by the police after the kidnapping and robbery of a 35-year-old woman. The events date back to the night between Thursday and Friday and occur on the outskirts of Manduria, Novoli e Salento fieldswhere the escape of the alleged perpetrators was interrupted after a road check.
The main suspect is a 25-year-old, identified with the initials MM, defended by the lawyer Lorenzo Bullocurrently detained in prison Lecce. Tomorrow he will be questioned by the investigating judge Marcello Rizzo. In front of the juvenile judge Paola Liaci instead, the second arrested person will appear, a 16-year-old boy assisted by his lawyer Biagio Leuzzi. The charges, however, are not identical: the adult is charged with kidnapping, robbery and sexual assault; to the minor only kidnapping and robbery.
The investigation still has several points to clarify. One of the main ones concerns the actual number of participants in the action: according to the first investigative findings, the group may have consisted of three or four people. An element that can only be clarified after the guarantee interviews.
The picture of the seized objects, however, is more solid. In the Audi stolen from the victim and used for the escape, the carabinieri of the company Salento fields they found an 8 caliber blank pistol without the red cap, a hatchet, two balaclavas, two screwdrivers and a credit card registered to a person unrelated to the facts. Other objects – a katana, a baseball bat and a garment compatible with the making of balaclavas – were seized from the minor’s home.
According to the reconstruction that has emerged so far, the woman was forced to stop on the outskirts of Manduria after finding the road blocked by large boulders. Once you get out of the car to clear the road, she would have been surrounded by some armed young people. In those moments the groping and the robbery of the house and car keys allegedly took place, leaving her alone in an isolated area.
The two arrested then headed towards Novoli, where they ransacked the victim’s home, taking away valuable objects that had not yet been recovered. The escape ended around 2.30 am, when a patrol stopped the stolen car for a check. The woman’s personal documents were also found inside the vehicle.
The 35-year-old is was subsequently tracked down and formalized the complaint a few hours later. The investigations continue to clarify all responsibility, identify any accomplices and also define the territorial jurisdiction of the investigation.
