The Croatian football public was left without one of the most recognizable television analysts. Josko Jeličić will no longer perform the role of expert commentator of the show Studio HNL on MAXSport, after Hrvatski Telekom, the owner of television rights and production, decided to end the cooperation.
The decision came after the indictment was filed
The key reason for this decision is the indictment brought against the former football player by the Municipal Criminal State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb. Jeličić is accused of giving false testimony during the trial against Zdravko Mamić and others, in the case known as the “Dinamo 2 affair”.
According to the available information, Jeličić admitted during the court process that earlier during the investigation he did not tell the truth about the financial agreement with Dinamo, stating that he did so for fear of possible criminal liability. The criminal offense of perjury carries a prison sentence of six months to five years.
Controversies related to the relationship with the Mamić family
The indictment also mentions earlier financial relationships between Jeličić and the Mamić family. Financial settlements, loans, as well as situations in which Jeličić was involved in the transfer of money and guarantees for loans are mentioned. These details further increased public interest and led to MAXSport’s decision to look for a new solution in the position of expert analyst.
MAXSport is looking for a new studio face
Jeličić has been a regular part of the show in recent years Studio HNLwhere he became one of the protective faces of the SuperSport HNL broadcast with his direct style, without hesitation and clear analyses. His departure leaves a void in the studio, and MAXSport has already started the search for a new commentator who will analyze events from Croatian football together with host Valentina Miletić and analyst Domagoj Abramović.
