The fight that cost the life of Jlenia Musella, the 22-year-old killed with a stab in the back yesterday afternoon in the Ponticelli district of Naples, broke out due to a kick to the dog. The one who hit her was her brother, Giuseppe Musella, 28, who presented himself to the police with his lawyer to confess to the attack, claiming that he had not wanted to kill his sister.
After the statements made within three hours after midnight, the young man was notified of a precautionary measure for aggravated voluntary homicide issued by the Naples Prosecutor’s Office (prosecutor Ciro Capasso). The agents of the Flying Squad and the Ponticelli police station – already on his trail since the afternoon – put him in a police car and accompanied him to the Secondigliano prison where he is awaiting the validation hearing.
The tragedy began in the house that the two brothers (apparently very quarrelsome) shared in via Al Chiaro di Luna, in the Conocal district, a popular agglomeration built after the 1980 earthquake which later became a stronghold of organized crime. According to what has been leaked, the two are the sons of a “street boss” in prison with convictions for serious crimes, including blood, who managed the sale of drugs in the Ponticelli area. The mother, however, after spending several years in prison, has recently been released and lives in the same building as her children. Furthermore, it later emerged that Jlenia was involved in a scam against an elderly person: she had recently turned to a Neapolitan lawyer for her defense.

The argument between the two, according to the neighbors yet another, broke out yesterday afternoon. According to the story given by the young man, the two brothers would have argued because Giuseppe’s dog had peed on the floor of the house: the two got into a fight over this reason and Jlenia kicked the little animal, causing Giuseppe to go into a rage. The situation calms down, unfortunately only momentarily, then he hears the dog yelp in pain. He becomes furious and at that point, in addition to the beatings, he throws a knife at the girl who was walking away, hitting her in the back. A single shot which however will prove fatal. Witnesses apparently witnessed the scene: Jlenia only managed to take a few steps and leave the house before falling to the ground.

Again according to the story provided, at this point Giuseppe and the other rescuers get back in the car and drive away. In the neighborhood the rumor that he was the one who killed Jlenia begins to circulate. The police summon and listen to people and the attention is focused on the 28 year old of whom however there was no longer any trace. Until just before midnight when he turns himself in, accompanied by his lawyer, to confess. Now his version is being examined by the magistrates of the IV section (coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Raffaello Falcone).

During a press conference held at the Prosecutor’s Office to illustrate an anti-Camorra operation, the prosecutor Nicola Gratteri underlined that in Naples there are several districts, such as Conocal, where people live in degradation. Places “where people often kill for trivial reasons”, he recalled, reiterating that there are responsibilities and questions that would be appropriate to ask “also to those who administer, to those who do politics”.
