Game, set, match. Jannik Sinner beats Ben Shelton in three sets and reaches his third consecutive Australian semifinal (the ninth on the Slam circuit). The blue passed the quarter-finals without suffering, showing concreteness and variety. Less effective than usual on serve (also because he cannot always reach the percentages of previous rounds), Jannik managed the pace of the match and, apart from a drop at the beginning of the third set, he never lost control of the match. It’s difficult to imagine a different outcome when he had Shelton in front of him who, with the exception of one previous match, had always lost. Now Jannik will find Djokovic who, thanks to Musetti’s withdrawal, has qualified for the semi-final despite risking elimination.
