Fafe and Torreense canceled each other out, with a 1-1 draw being the outcome of the first leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals, which took place this Wednesday, at the Estádio Municipal de Fafe.
The entry onto the field was stronger for the home team, who tried to score earlier than Torreense, to take advantage of their advantage against the city’s fans.
And he was on several occasions close to opening the scoring in the initial moments, ending up missing the shot.
But those who try hard always achieve it, and Fafe actually managed to reach the goal that would give them the lead at half-time, after a shot from João Oliveira, which only ended up in the back of Unai Pérez’s net, who had no chance of defending, in the 43rd minute of the game.
In the second half, the roles were reversed, with Torreense having to go in search of a goal to equalize the tie, as it was important not to lose in the second leg of the semi-finals of the premier competition.
The ‘new life’ offensive of the Torres Vedras team ended up bringing results, and a lot of headaches for Fafe’s defense, which ended up suffering a casualty after João Gonçalo brought down a Torreense forward and saw a straight red card.
In the ensuing direct free kick, the genius of Manuel Pozo appeared, in the 59th minute, who scored directly from a free kick and benefited from the ingenuity of the newly introduced Fafe goalkeeper, who made a mistake in the barrier and saw the ball enter his net.
From then on, even with one down, it was Fafe who tried to reach the winning goal, with a mishap in the middle for Torreense.
Costinha, who came on during the second half, saw two yellow cards in 11 minutes and left the visiting team also with 10, for the 10 minutes of compensation given by the referee.
The result ends up fitting what was a meeting of two distinct halves, with two teams from secondary levels of Portuguese football putting on a beautiful spectacle.
