IBU Cup 6 Sjusjön: Team Selection 2024

After an intense competition week with the EC behind them, the next challenge for the Swedish squad now awaits. This weekend, the IBU Cup in Norway’s Sjusjöen is on the program, where the team comes with several stable performances behind them.

During the EC competitions, it was Emma Nilsson who was responsible for the top individual results. Nilsson entered ninth in the sprint and followed up with a seventh place in the pursuit start – two even and strong races against strong international opposition.

Sweden also showed evidence of good team strength in the relays. The men’s team finished fifth while the women’s cruised into fourth place, with both teams close to the battle for the top spots.

Now full focus is directed towards the IBU Cup in Sjusjön, where the squad will have the opportunity to build on the EC form and continue the search for strong results during the winter’s international competition. The competitions start already on Wednesday with mixed relays and then continue on Friday and Saturday with sprints and pursuit starts.

The Swedish squad for the IBU Cup largely consists of the same skaters who participated at the European Championships. On the women’s side, Johanna Skottheim and Erika Österman fell ill during the championship and therefore traveled home to Sweden, where Johanna is now training again.
