The district of Vegetable has launched the program ‘Vegetables, healthy district’a comprehensive strategy with more than 40 activities destined to turn the neighborhood into municipal reference in public health, community well-being and prevention. The announcement was made coinciding with the World Cancer Day.
The district councilor, David Perezhas visited the information table installed at the Hortaleza Municipal Sports Centerorganized in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancerwith the aim of raise awareness among citizens about the prevention, control of the disease and the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle habits.
A solidarity pickleball tournament open to all neighbors
Within this program, Pérez has announced the celebration of a free pickleball tournament the next February 15a growing sports discipline that combines elements of tennis, paddle tennis and badminton. The event will take place at Hortaleza Municipal Sports Center and will have the collaboration of the Madrid Pickleball Association.
The councilor has encouraged residents to participate in this sport “fun, entertaining and easy to learn”, highlighting that it adapts to all ages and physical levels. During the day, both participants and attendees will be able to make voluntary donations to the Spanish Association Against Cancer through the links enabled for this purpose.
School judo to promote health and coexistence
The first activity of the program has already achieved very positive balance. Nearly 300 students from 1st to 6th Primary of the Seneca Philosopher Public School have participated in six judo sessionsan initiative designed to reinforce physical health, coexistence and the comprehensive development of students.
David Pérez has described this experience as a “success”underlining the value of sport as an educational and preventive tool from an early age.
Collaboration with the district sports fabric
The councilor wanted to expressly thank the involvement of Club Kai Nagarean entity that develops judo activity in the municipal sports center. Pérez has highlighted his commitment to sports education, respect and the transmission of valueskey aspects for the objectives of the ‘Hortaleza, healthy district’ program.
With this initiative, the district reinforces its commitment to a more active, conscious and committed community with healthcombining sport, education and solidarity in a project that will extend over the coming months.
