Hakimi: PSG/OM – Fitness & Discipline Update

Meeting on Wednesday evening, the LFP disciplinary committee sanctioned Achraf Hakimi for his expulsion against Strasbourg last Sunday. As in October 2021, the Moroccan right-back received a one-match suspension then another suspended match and will miss the PSG/OM clash on Sunday evening as expected.

Achraf Hakimi is determined on his fate. Knowing that he was already suspended for the PSG/OM Classic on Sunday evening following his expulsion last Sunday against Strasbourg, the Moroccan was mainly waiting for his sanction to find out if he was going to miss another match than the one against Marseille. The answer is no, in the short term at least.

Meeting on Wednesday evening, the LFP disciplinary committee in fact inflicted a single firm suspension on him for his more clumsy than mean sole on Joaquin Panichelli in the 75th minute of the last Strasbourg/PSG (1-2). But the LFP added another match suspension to Hakimi, suspended this time, as in October 2021 after his expulsion against OM (0-0).

Hakimi will be suspended for the next yellow received over a period of 10 matches

Achraf Hakimi will therefore be able to play next Friday February 13 in Rennes during the 22nd day of Ligue 1 (7 p.m. on Ligue 1+). Having a suspended match hanging over his head, the Moroccan will however have to be careful since the next yellow card received in a national competition, over a period of ten matches, he will be suspended by revoking his suspended sentence. As PSG is eliminated from the Coupe de France, this only concerns Ligue 1.

A subtlety of the LFP regulations which recently played tricks on Valentin Barco, the Argentinian midfielder from Strasbourg. The latter was sent off at the end of November against Lens and received a fixed match plus another suspended sentence. And the Argentinian had not been warned by his club that he would be suspended for the next yellow received over a period of 10 matches.

He therefore behaved normally on the pitch and was warned against Metz on January 18. On January 21, the LFP disciplinary committee suspended him for one match by revoking his suspension, with application of the sanction from the following Tuesday, which allowed him to face Lille on January 25, but not PSG on February 1.

If Hakimi were to receive a yellow against Rennes on February 13, he would not be suspended for the match against Metz on February 21, but for the match against Le Havre on February 28.
