KV Mechelen and Royal Antwerp FC will face each other on Sunday evening. A match that was definitely on Geoffry Hairemans’ agenda.
New operation for Hairemans
At the end of August, Geoffry Hairemans made it clear after his serious injury that he wanted to sit on the bench this weekend during the match between KV Mechelen and Royal Antwerp FC.
Then his rehabilitation should have gone very smoothly, but the deadline was far too strict at just six months after a cruciate ligament injury, as has now become clear. And there was even more going on.
Last week, Hairemans even went under the knife again, because scar tissue caused the necessary irritation. This was surgically removed and should normally have little impact on rehabilitation.
Antwerp DNA at Hairemans
The hope is that he can go all out again in the play-offs. After all, moneytime for The Great Old is still coming, with hopefully the club reaching the top six and a cup final. Assistant Faris Haroun is already looking forward to it.

“During the six years that he was away, we kept in touch with each other through messages. It’s good that he is back now. Guys like Geoff, but also Ritchie (De Laet, ed.) in the past, watch over the Antwerp DNA,” Het Nieuwsblad said.
