Five days after the CAF disciplinary commission ruled on the events that occurred during the CAN 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) officially announced its decision to appeal the sanctions imposed.
Following this particularly tense meeting, CAF opened an investigation after several incidents involving players, officials and supporters. Reservations and complaints had been filed by both Moroccan and Senegalese authorities. Among the facts examined were the temporary exit of Senegalese players from the fieldTHE challenges to arbitral decisionsas well as the controversial episode of towelswidely relayed after the meeting.
A few days later, CAF delivered a heavy verdict against the two selections. On the Senegalese side, the coach Pope Thiaw was suspended for five matches and fined 100 000 dollarswhileIsmaila Sarr et Indian education suffer from two match suspensions each. The Senegalese Football Federation will also have to pay a fine of 615 000 dollars.
On the Moroccan side, Ashraf Hakimi was suspended for two matches, one of which was suspended, Ismaël Saibari pour three matchesand the FRMF will have to pay a fine of 315 000 dollars.
The FRMF decides to contest
While the Senegalese Football Federation announced that she would not appeal, the FRMFwho has remained silent until now, has finally decided to challenge the decisions of the CAF. In its press release, the Moroccan Federation considers that the sanctions imposed are not proportional to the real seriousness of the events, and affirms that it wants to defend its rights through regulatory channels. Concerned, the FRMF thus confirmed its intention to initiate an appeal procedure.
