The leaders “Masters Ulbroka”/LU floorball players and the “Ķekava/RB&B” team won the penultimate rounds of the main tournament of the Latvian floorball league on Saturday. The floorball players of Inčukalna sports club “Coyote”/”IxCom”/FBKV achieved a rare success in the second league tournament.
Talsu NSS/”Krauzers” hosted the floorball players of “Masters Ulbroka”/LU in the mutual match between the first three teams of the Premier League and also the finalists of last year’s championship. In the first third, the opponents exchanged two accurate shots, but in the second, the visitors achieved a decisive advantage (5:2), which they did not give up until the end of the game – 6:4.
Roberts Trofimenko scored three goals, with a goal and an assist for Sandis Lövald and Krišjānis Titins. It should be noted that Trofimenko and Tiltiņš, together with their teammate Valteras Lapiņas, will represent Latvia in the World Championship qualification tournament, which will take place from February 3 to 7 in Liepāja. The opponents of the Latvian national team will be floorball players from Slovenia, Hungary and Ukraine.
The “Ķekava/RB&B” team ended January with a very convincing victory, which lost the only goal in the away game against the FK “Irlava”/”ISAM” team ten minutes before the end, when they had already scored nine. The final score was 10:1 in favor of the Kekavians (Andy Umbert Barrus and Patrik Zvejnieks 3+0 each, Valters Pried 2+0, Klaav Ziedon Jansons 1+3).
Before the last round, which is scheduled for February 14, Ulbroka’s floorball players (68 points) keep the leading position, they are followed in the top four by Kocėnu “Rubene” (67), Talsa NSS/”Krauzers” (59) and Cēsu “Lekrings” (47). The fifth place is “Ķekava/RB&B” (37), followed by FBK “Valmiera” (34), and “Lielvārde/Unihoc” (27), but the last place in the elimination tournament will be shared by floorball club “SĀC” and “Irlava” (21 points each). “SĀC” floorball players will also play the last match of the regular season in Ķekava.
The players of the floorball club “Baloži” and the “Masters Ulbroka” team crossed sticks in the Western group tournament of the Latvian first league on Sunday in Baloži. The hosts lost 3:4 at the beginning of the second third, but scored seven goals in a row in the next 20 minutes and won the match 10:7 (Matīs Jānis Teper 2+0, Eduard Strokatov 1+2 – Dāvid Cimž 3+1).
In the table of the Western group, the teams of Ulbroka, Baložu and Grobina have 32 points each (places between fourth and sixth), “Ķekava Bulldogs” floorball players have a point less and are in a lower position, while FK “Saulkalne/Salaspils” is in ninth position with 27 points.
In the second league of Latvia, the “coyotes” of Inčukalna finally managed to climb from the last place in the table of the Western group. On the road against the floorball club “Tērvete” they won the decisive advantage with three accurate shots in the second period (6:3), and the home team failed to achieve a tie again – 10:6 in favor of the Inčukalnas club (Daniel Bunkum 4+0, Artūrs Garaj 3+0, Māris Skrodim 2+2).
“Coyote”/”IxCom”/FBKV are in sixth place in the eight-team competition with 16 points after 18 rounds. On the other hand, in the third place is the floorball club “Ulbroka” (38 points), which took a 6:2 lead at the beginning of the second period against FK “Ogre” on Sunday and did not give it back – 12:7 (4+1 for Richard Korn, 3+1 for Roland Lidum).
Two games have been played in the ladies’ league. “FK Ķekava”/”Latvijas Mediji” team with two goals in 24 seconds in the middle of the third period ensured a 5:4 victory over the last-placed “Lions of Riga” (Enija Kalniņa 2+0, Annie Darta Dankfeld 1+1), while “NND/RJTC” floorball players beat the Tartu “EMU SK” team 5:1 in Ulbroka (Darta Derupa and Klinta 1+1 each for Martiņiēkaba).
In the tournament table, Kekavietes are in fourth place (19 p. 15 sp.), while “NND/RJTC” are conditionally second (33 p. 13 sp.) behind Kocēni “Rubenes” (33 p. 14 sp.).
