Fabien Claude Wins Biathlon Sprint – 2026 Olympics Preview

It’s little consolation, but a good moment to end the 2026 Winter Olympics. Author of nine shooting errors this Friday during the mass start, Fabien Claude experienced a final nightmare race at Milan-Cortina. The biathlete did not, however, finish in last place since he, with the Italian Nicola Romanin and the American Campbell Wright, won in a final sprint.

Arriving together in the final straight almost 6 minutes behind the winner Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, the three men started a little competition between themselves. Stopped on the same line, they faced each other in a particularly violent sprint. And it was the Frenchman, more powerful and faster than his competitors, who won the challenge with a good lead.

Olympic relay champion alongside Émilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon Maillet and Éric Perrot, Fabien Claude finally took 27th place in this mass start, the Italian Tommaso Giacomel having abandoned in the 3rd lap. A disappointing result for the Habs, who have never been successful with their shooting during these Olympic Games.

With four faults, Quentin Fillon Maillet was not imperial either. His speed and power on the skis, however, allowed him to win the bronze medal, behind Johannes Dale-Skjevdal and Sturla Laegreid, by overtaking the German Philipp Horn in the final lap of the event. This is the 9th Olympic medal of his career.
