OL had already shown a good face in the first part of the season after an eventful summer, the Lyon team has looked great since this winter. Indeed, with the arrival of Endrick on loan, the Gones are now scary and seem armed to achieve something big this season. After finishing in first place in the regular phase of the Europa League, the Rhone residents are in fourth place in Ligue 1 and are in ambush in the event of the defection of one of the teams in front of them (PSG, Lens, OM). With Endrick, the trophy dreams are gaining strength and the end of the season promises to be exciting to follow between Rhône and Saône.
For his part, the striker on loan from Real Madrid is over the moon. Very efficient on the pitch after four goals in three matches including a hat-trick last Sunday in Metz (5-2 victory), the 19-year-old striker is delighted and is already at ease in Lyon. Happy to have arrived in a well-established team in which everyone gets along well, the Brazilian is finding his colors and is now clearly applying for a place in the World Cup with Brazil. In the meantime, Endrick will try to do five months of high flying in Lyon and does not hesitate to declare his love for OL.
Endrick does not close the door to a return to Lyon next season
In an interview with The Team published this Friday, the player trained at Palmeiras talked about it and explained that he was very happy to play on loan at Lyon: “my adaptation is almost perfect. Since I arrived, communication with my teammates and the staff has been excellent. I really thank them for this daily help. Now I hope to improve a little more with each match, so that at the end of the season we achieve our goals. (…) The fact that the leaders came to meet me, that they gave me their word, was remarkable. I felt their confidence. I found a really close-knit team here, where there is friendship, which is important. It’s even the most important. If there is a union on the field and off the field, things are more fluid, natural.»
A mutual crush between the player and the club, which can possibly open doors to a future together. While his future still seems blocked at Real Madrid with the presence of many world-class attackers, Endrick is not necessarily guaranteed to have reasonable playing time, even after a high-quality loan to Lyon. From then on, a solution made OL supporters dream: extend Endrick’s loan for an additional season. The Brazilian press explained this week that Paulo Fonseca had even made a cheeky request to his leaders. Asked about this prospect, the 19-year-old striker did not close the door but gave a fairly evasive answer on the subject: “Only God knows what will happen, whether he will tell me to stay here or not. Nobody already knows what will happen tomorrow.» A response which is enough not to bury OL’s chances in this crazy file if it were to materialize.
