He was a regular of Slovan Bratislava, the best scorer and a favorite of the fans. Will Serbian speedster Aleksandar Čavrič (31) return to Tehelné pole?
Few legionnaires have earned as much love from Slovan fans as Čavrič. He wore the white jersey from the summer of 2016 to the spring of 2024. He took part in winning six championship titles and four Slovak Cups.
According to Kmotrík, he regretted leaving Slovan
In January 2024, he left for the Japanese Kashima Antlers. First, for a loan, which after exercising the option turned into a permanent transfer. Čavrič also established himself in Asia, last year he contributed to winning the championship title.
Despite the successful anabasis of the naturalized Slovak in Japan, practically since his departure there has been talk of returning to Slav.
“We are in contact with Čavrič. He has said several times that he would very much like to return. That’s how it is sometimes. You make a decision and then with the passage of time you start to regret it or you feel that it was not right. Sometimes it turns out that way.
Whatever we called and wrote, he always said that he would like to come back and that he wanted to go home. From this point of view, I feel that he probably internally regrets the decision to leave in a certain way,” Slovan CEO Ivan Kmotrík Jr. told ŠPORT.sk in the summer of 2024.

In December 2024, Čavrič even flew with Slovan’s team to Madrid for the Champions League match against Atlético. He parted ways with the Whites on good terms, and both sides have been more or less flirting with the idea of resuming cooperation ever since.
Weiss: I believe he will come back
After Saturday’s important league victory 3:0 in Dunajská Streda, coach Weiss also commented on the potential return of Čavrič:
“He became a champion in Japan, which is fantastic for him. I believe that he may return to Slovan. He is 31 years old, he still has a contract for one year. If he extends it, it will probably be a pass. However, for matches like today, ‘Čaki’ is tailor-made.
He won the title there, they praise him, from that point of view it will probably be difficult. But he’s our boy, a good boy. He is half Slovak, half Serbian. Together with Tolič, they belong to the players who signed up here with golden letters. They have done a lot of work for this club.”
The footballers of Slovan Bratislava won the 19th round of the Nike League on Saturday in the DAC Dunajská Streda 3:0. The reigning champion played most of the second half with a numerical advantage after the red card of home Julien Bation. “Belasí” thus maintained the lead in the table in front of the home team and currently have a lead of four points.
Čavrič played 265 matches in Slovan, scoring 75 goals and 45 assists. In addition to trophies, he contributed to three participations in the Conference League group and one promotion to the main stage of the Europa League.
Since 2024, he has Slovak citizenship, but he has not yet represented. He immediately rejected the first invitation from Francesco Calzona, he wanted to acclimatize better in the new club. With this, the Italian skipper closed the door to the national team.
